Getting started with a training program for a specific concern can feel confusing. Below, I outline each step of the process and use a familiar comparison to medical care to make it easier to understand what to expect.

1. Discovery Call

We start with a free 15 minute phone call for me to hear your needs, offer advice, and make sure I’m the right fit. If I am, we’ll schedule an appointment and review next steps.

Think of it like: calling a doctor’s office to confirm they treat your concern before booking a visit.

2. Initial Consultation

We meet to uncover what’s happening, outline the best path forward, and begin addressing the issue.

In some “simpler” cases like jumping on visitors, the guidance from this single session may be enough to resolve the issue. In more complex cases—like biting strangers—the consultation sets you on the right path, but additional coaching is necessary.

Think of it like: visiting a doctor for a diagnosis and treatment instructions. A sore throat may be fixed with a quick prescription, but a torn ligament will require ongoing care.

3. Coaching & Day Training

With a plan in place, this is where particular details are taught, practiced, and refined.

When Coaching, I work with you and your dog to build the skills you need. With Day Training, I work one-on-one with your dog to help you reach a resolution faster.

Think of it like: physical therapy and massage for an injury. Physical therapy involves instruction, demonstration, and guided exercises that you continue at home. Massage will speed your recovery but it can’t replace therapy entirely.
